[Review] ABC-Z First Concert in Yoyogi

A solo live usually lead a unit [unless it’s a special unit] to a debut, so there is still hope for ABC-Z (Ebisu hereon) to be on the road to debut. Their first live in Yoyogi arena was much awaited by many and yet, there is always critics that do not really like them to be on stage as the main performer, Well in this industry, anything is possible and everything will be debated over.

On to the review, since I went for both the show, I will just be comparing them rather than giving each show a review, since I suck at giving them and also remembering the set list [and I refuse to write during the show, unless it’s a musical].

Ebisu are wonderful dancers and their voice is not the best among the Johnny Entertainment talents but their acrobatic stunts and their dance were impeccably executed. There are fault here and there, but the fact that Kawaii Fumito (Fumito here on) still dancing with an injury is an effort to be applaued.

Compared to the first show, the second show had it flaw due to lack of loss of energy and Fumito limping most of the way and he looked like he was in pain most of the show even though he tried to cover it. The first show was flawed as well as there were a couple of times the fumbled with their dance and the younger juniors forgets their step or somehow it look like they lack training. For the second show the execution of technique itself was much better almost flawless but it lack energy and it seemed a little boring at times as the performers were already tired from the first show. Mind you the gap between the first and the second show were barely 2 hours apart of each other.

The flow of the show was not that well organized either. Whoever planned the set list seriously need to plan better next time since the show was really choppy and lack continuity. The solo parts were appreciated but there are some in Ebisu (I would not want to name who) are not ready to have his own solo and he was weak at handing the audience on his own.

The opening gave by Takizawa Hideaki was a nice touch and he especially said Ganbatteto Hashimoto Ryosuke (Hasshi hereon) is a super nice touch on his part as Ebisu had been a part of the Junior and apart of Tackey-chan Channel from the beginning of it. To say there’s nothing special about this show would be a lie. Ebisu, staying true to their name, executed their acrobatic skills greatly (I would usually say Ebisu are flawless at acrobatic skills but they had quite a few fumbles) and their spirit were well received by fans.

One part that spoils the show for me was that for Ebisu to over emphasize about the newly debuted group called Sexy Zone. It’s not that they are that bad, but I have my own reason for not liking them so much. Yet for the first show, that was covered by the special guest who happened to get even more screams from fans rather than Ebisu themselves. Kis-My-Ft 2 were there well 5 of them were there since Kitayama and Miyata is currently on tour with their butaiIkemen desunewith Masuda of NewS. The others that was not given mic time was THEY Budou and some boys from MADE (I know their faces but not their name per say). For the second show there was Yabu Kouta and Nakajima Yuto of Hey! Say! Jump.

Overall both the show was equally entertaining in their own rights and both shows had it strength and weakness. I do prefer the first show since THEY and MADE were there but the second show was similar in most aspect as well. A fair six and a half out of ten (6.5/10) is well deserved for both the shows.
