A little bit about the tracks in this maxi single, which is also KAT-TUN 16th single which includes ‘Run for You’ which is featured in in a TV commercial for the Suzuki Solio, ‘Cosmic Child’ will be used in commercials for Wacoal products and ‘Diamond’ will be used as the image song for Dramatic Game 1844. It’s a little funny in my head that KAT-TUN song is the one picked for a brassiere commercial instead of female idol groups such as AKB48 or other female idols.

Truth is I am not favoring this single that much, for the simple reason of voice distortion thing (is it called Auto tune?), it just pisses me off when a person who definitely have a powerful voice and that thing just ruins it. Sorry but it only helps people who can’t sing, and make the people who can n fact sing nicely becomes rubbish.

Both ‘Run for You’ and ‘Cosmic Child’ really rely heavily on the voice distorter, so for obvious reason, I really do not favor this two tracks, but the tune is real catchy and commercial. ‘Diamond’ has a very upbeat feel to the song and is a nice workout song, in my opinion. ‘& Forever’ would be my favorite track in the single, entirely. It has a natural upbeat feeling of KAT-TUN to it, and lack voice distortion. ‘Sweet Chain’ is not too bad either. The falsetto and the 90s pop brought me back to the era of New Kids on the Block and BackStreet Boys. The glorious era of pop, and this song just have the sweet detail that makes it fresh.

On to the PV. What can I say, KAT-TUN’s PV has never been my cup of tea (besides Love Yourself ~Kimi ga Kirai na, Kimi ga Suki~ PV) but I have to admit, this PV was not bad at all. The contrasting color palette and the much nicer dance coordination from them just add to the niceness of the PV. Though the set was interesting and awesome looking, the scene was a little confusing. But again the dancing was what made it a win. Someone that changed a lot was Ueda. He was no longer stomping his leg and landing heavily or pointing his feet at unnecessary time and being on his toes like he was going to box someone’s teeth out. Instead he was graceful and precise (at least he was from my point of view). Okay the PV does not make much sense but the nicely executed dance and fish made it worth the time, beside, it’s a PV and not a plotted story.

Am guessing that the marketing people at Johnny’s were finding a right solution after the plummeted sales of most of its talents Post-Great Eastern Quake in March and decided to throw in a pinch of Kpop and a hint of Gaga. Though this release is not entirely bad, but comparing to their previous releases pre and post departure of Akanishi Jin, fans have to admit Run for You is not KAT-TUN strongest single. A fair 3 out of 5(3/5) for this one.

I’m leaving you with the PV of Run for You.
