[Review] 8Uppers Concert DVD Review

Kanjani8 (Eito from here on) concert had yet to disappoint me. Though in my opinion 8Uppers concert (the one being recorded) is not the best one they have had. Though the concert was not all that bad. I had been waiting for the concert to be released on DVD since the start of the concert date announcement itself. Months of waiting was finally over when the DVD finally came. I did not watch it immediately though as I kept it since I was looking forward to watch the theater of the juniors more at that time. But the sacrifice of my sleep was worth the while.

The concert was recorded on the December 19^th concert just right before the Christmas one, if I am not mistaken. The one with Okura-kun as the Santa and Nishikido-kun and a reindeer. It began with an 8Uppers opening montage and Ukiyo Odoribito was sung as the opening song. Let me not bore you with my fangirling and just move one to the comments.

Let’s start with the bad part or the part that let me down. Well when I got to know there was going to be sub-unit duets and the remake of Topop, I was super excited. But when I received the DVD those songs were not on them and I was sort of pissed but apparently, those duets were not performed on the show that was recorded instead the replaced them with the Christmasy songs.

I don’t know whether did they cut or did they totally replaced the MC with the ‘Wink Killer’ game, but for an Eito con, the MC is the part that I look forward to the most. So I’m a little disappointed as there was less absurd jokes from Eito and Lack of tsukkomi from Murakami-kun. Also, there was a tiny corner where veteran performed wasn’t there? That too was either cut or was not included in the DVD. I was looking forward to see Veteran~~~

Now to the good parts. The song arrangements were awesome, and them dancing on the elevated stage and the stairs were cool. ‘Wink Killer’ is not all that bad, but it was not as interesting as ‘Eito Renjaa’. Though Nishikido-kun acting all cutesy and eating a lollypop throughout the game just made it that much interesting.

I have no say in Eito outfit, because no matter how crazy or how ridiculous they dress themselves up, most of the time they still look fine. The encore was awesome as they played Aoshashin before Roller Coaster was just love~~~ and the little glimpse of Veteran just adds to the awesomeness of the concert itself. Ah~ and not forgetting the Santa Okura and Reindeer Nishikido.

Overall, compared to other previous concerts by Eito, this would be just mediocre. How would I rate this DVD? Well, since it came with a nice photo book and all ‘Wink Killer’ games in another DVD, it’s not all bad… I’d give the con a fair seven out of ten (7/10) and the DVD [mine was the limited edition] a good eight out of ten (8/10) just because of the photo book and the wink killer game.

Before I start to fangirl all over again, I’d better stop…
